Welcome to (former) IT Product Support

This website contains information about software products supported by the former IT/PS group, now done by the IT/DES group. The products we support range from Mechancial CAE (EUCLID, CATIA, AutoCAD, Ansys, StarCD etc) and Electronics Design Automation (Cadence, P-CAD, Saber etc) via Math tools to software development (Rational Rose) and documentation (Framemaker) services. Furthermore we provide support for Unix servers on the SUN platform and interactive SUN services such as SUNDEV, the CMS disc servers, and the Electronic CAE Sun cluster, as well as some specialised services (PaRC Engineering cluster, printing, software license management and CVS). We also host the Software Licence Office to assist SPL in the purchase of software licences and support agreements and we manage the Desktop Computing Support contract.

Engineering applications on Windows

Many Engineering applications at CERN are available on NICE 2000/XP. See the "Engineering" category under "Add New Programs" for a complete list. More information about program installation on Windows is available from the Winservices Web pages.

The Engineering PC from the PC-shop catalogue is equipped for running demanding engineering applications that require Open GL processing of images such as AutoCAD 2002. It will also run with any other Windows or Linux based applications.

About us

Most of the activities of the former IT/PS (Product Support) group have been merged together with database support activities in the IT/DES group. For more information about the DES group, please consult the IT/DES website..
